School Lunch Program

Most School Districts now offer a pizza lunch program where various local businesses are asked to bid on the school districts' program. Required nutritional information needs to be submitted, along with a bid. Some contracts are for the entire year, but most school districts require businesses to submit bids for each semester. Contact the School District Office Receptionist for information.

School Discount Card

Create a discount card for the school year or for each semester promoting your pizza specials to the students. You may require the student to produce a school ID for validation at the time of pickup. The Principal or teachers may distribute the cards for free or sell the cards to a fundraising group and allow them to collect the proceeds for the sale of the card. Private companies do contact local businesses and create "credit" cards that offer various specials from local businesses. Check the local phone book. Offer a percentage discount on the total sale, reduced price on preferred products or free products with a regularly priced product, etc.

Fundraising, Boosters, School Activities and Events

An example of groups includes: Band, Football, Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Wrestling, and All clubs within High School. Contact Coaches, Teachers, and/or Principal.

Reading Incentives

This program is effective at the Elementary School level. Speak with the principal to award products or certificates for individuals, or chose to offer a challenge between the classes. The winning class visits your store, and receives a pizza party. You could also give a demonstration at the store, let the students create the pizzas, or some other activity to ensure that the trip to your store will be a memorable one.

Other Incentives at the school level to consider:

Student Specials in the School Paper

Meet the Journalism Department Head or the student editor. Marketing to consider: free ads, insert your freestanding flyers (by your employees or the school students), or distribute the papers along with your flyers.

Community Meetings

Support the meetings with your product. This introduces your store as well as shows support in the community. Contact the PTA President.

School Night for fundraising

Donate a percentage of the school’s sales based on purchases of regularly priced products. Announce the Fundraising event over the Public Address System, distribute flyers, advertise in the school newspaper, and leave teacher announcements in their mailboxes. Track the number of calls and dollar sales during the scheduled fundraising period. For example, determine that the fundraising event will occur on a Monday night between the hours of 6pm and 9pm. The student must mention the name of the school when placing the order. Get your store in the newspaper or on TV by presenting a donation check to the Administrative Group, School District Office, or School Assembly. TV news and local newspapers look for 'short' interest stories. Contact School Groups or Principal for information.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Serve lunch for the teachers and administration. Contact the Principal.

Faculty Meetings

Serve lunch, and ask to speak to the group as a partner. You may be able to brainstorm in this environment if given the opportunity to make a short presentation about your business. Contact the Principal.

Off-premise sales for concessions and all school events

Contact the School District regarding restrictions, rules, and options. Contact your Health Department, and local government for information about required permits.

Demonstrate Small Business Practices (High School)

Present your entrepreneurial skills at the school, or bring the Small Business class or club to your store. Contact the Principal or Small Business Group Representative.

Contact the Principal.

Holiday parties

Halloween, New Years, Valentines, Easter, Prom, and Graduation: Parties can be arranged by class or for the entire school. Contact school clubs, Principal, or the Event Coordinator.

RAK's – Random Acts of Kindness

Create this program with the help of the Principal. Students are encouraged to demonstrate Random Acts of Kindness. The witnessing teacher awards a coupon (RAK) for a free product to reinforce the behavior. Some schools focus on proper manners, acceptable behavior, etc. The student is then recognized in the homeroom/school newspaper, or over the PA (public address system). RAK stimulates and reinforces acceptable behavior and generates excitement among the students.

School Sponsored Graduation Night

Contact the Graduation Organizers to serve your product.
